Ironically, I’ve used this exact situation as an example of how not to photograph babies. I emphatically stated that if you want to take a picture of a baby fill the frame with baby and leave out the sofa and the pillows and the lamps and the art on the walls. But this is not a picture of a baby; it’s a picture of a great big world and the little tiny creature who will be confronted by it and confront it right back. Yes, it’s big and scary, but it’s big and beautiful, too. So many lessons, so many tears and smiles, so little time.
