#10 – Kim MacDonald Cameron
I do not need to tell you that this picture has power. The source of it’s strength lies in the simplicity of the color, the low dramatic angle, and the lighting. About the lighting—I really don’t know if it’s natural light (sunlight) or an electronic flash unit that Kim has held off of the camera so the light is coming from a different angle than the point of view of the lens. Maybe she had a wireless remote sinking device that allowed her to hold the flash where ever she wanted to without any wires attached. Or…like I said, maybe it’s just good old-fashioned sunlight. In either case, it’s a simple and beautiful and a hammer over the head landscape that I’m in love with and I wish I’d taken myself. Just gorgeous. It goes without saying, but I mean hammer over the head in the nicest possible way.
Note from Nick: After this was originally published Kim wrote to say that this was in fact taken with good old fashioned sunlight.
