#18 – Marilyn Tschorke
It’s hard to drive by a yellow barn with your camera and she didn’t; she got out of the car. Step one. Check. But step two is a little more complicated. You need to bring something to the party. You need to make something out of the situation, something the yellow barn doesn’t have all by itself. The yellow grass and buds in the trees echo the color of the barn. And the blue tin roof and similar blue haze in the distance tie it all together. Finally, Marilyn has placed the barn dramatically off-center. All of a sudden, the photograph is loaded with power. This picture is much more complicated than it looks. Really nice work.
