#23 – Lori Hammer Hull
I wish I were writer enough to do this photograph justice.
They’ve been married for 50 years. He has Alzheimer’s and she is his sole caretaker. The picture was taken by their daughter.
The look on her face says it all. The human condition deals some tough blows. For me, the fact that he’s sleeping makes this a picture of HER. It’s a picture of a reaction to a terrible medical condition.
I know I’ve mentioned him before, but my legendary photojournalism professor at the University of Missouri would have gone on and on and on about this photograph. He would have said something like “this is why we shoot photographs”. He was right.
