#44 – Sam Maloney
Sam has wisely used the long telephoto lens he loves to put that background out of focus. In other words, he stood back from the action but he didn’t have to. It was a creative decision. But the really neat thing that he did was to eliminate the faces of several key players in this moment of celebration. He honed in on just one of them. He got close and then he got closer. He used a fast shutter speed (I’m guessing somewhere around 1000th of a second) to freeze those water drops in space and to freeze that smile forever. Great job, Sam!
