The mystique of New Orleans is in the air. Sounds and smells are everywhere. And then more sounds. World-class musicians perfo legendary French quarterstreet corner after street corner along with local children playing horns and drums that have been in their families for decades. The atmosphere is conducive to artistic improvisation—one of the most important skills of any good photographer
The city did not disappoint at our recent Nick Kelsh Photography Workshop. Food and music wove their Cajun magic as our cameras recorded it all, from the wrought-iron wrapped French Quarter buildings to the Spanish moss-covered oak trees in Audubon Park. Then we took a trip into history at the legendary Oak Alley Plantation on the banks of the Mississippi River, and explored the natural beauty of one of Louisiana’s swamps, complete with alligators, turtles and a crusty ole’ Cajun driving the boat.
