#42 – Crystal Boates-Freeman
It’s Crystal’s great-grandmother’s house. She happened to join a camera club trip on a dark and cold outing and later found out that she had a personal connection to this piece of architecture. The exposure was long. How long? Well, I’m only guessing here, but I’m going with 30 seconds. When you get much longer than 30 seconds the stars begin to turn into little streaks caused by the rotation of the earth. It doesn’t take very long! So let’s pretend the shutter was open one half of a minute. While the shutter was open I’m thinking that somebody popped a speed light and put some additional lighting onto the house. Of course, I’m totally making this up, but that is the premise that I’m going with. (Crystal, correct me if I’m wrong.) Beautifully executed! Only after you have fumbled around in the dark with your camera and a tripod on a really cold night can you appreciate how good this photograph is.
