12. Kelly Ault

I’m guessing that all of the lighting in this photograph is from windows, based on that direct sunlight that’s hitting the curtain on the right. There’s probably another window behind Kelly and her camera. It’s so simple and so powerful. If you get nothing else, absolutely nothing else, from reading what I write here please let it be an appreciation of lighting that looks like this. Please find those places in your world and your house that produce pictures that jump off the page and are completely professional, regardless of your skill level or camera—like Kelly’s. Photograph someone you love close-up in beautiful light. I might come up with a better epitaph for my headstone than that but I haven’t thought of it yet.
